"ALPENISE AND MONTE GRAPPA" ROUTE
Length: around 55 km
Estimated time: 6 h
Level of difficulty: HIGH
With this route it is possible to enjoy the satisfaction of the ascent though appreciating at the same time the characteristics of the landscape that tell a lot about the history, the structure and the peculiarities of the place.
Climb the military road Cadorna, built to supply Monte Grappa with military equipment during the Great War. It is possible to visit Col Campeggia trenches and Colle Averta and Col Andreon fortifications.
The road becomes then flat. It is Strada delle Penise, passing trough very beautiful landscapes such as spruce woods and mountainous graze lands, opening on a scenery view on the Brenta valley and on the plain. A visit to the Pertuso Karst spring it's worth before finally reaching Alpenise, a mountain house where typical mountain dishes are to be found and where to have fun in the adventure park. Then why not to visit Col Moschin the background of harsh battles during 1917-18.
The sunny and beautiful Valderoa then descends until Ponte San Lorenzo where a roman column stands as a witness of the furthest place the enemy had reached during the Solstice Battle in 1918. Come back to Bassano through Strada Cadorna.
